9:00:40 A.M. Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Patrick J. Conroy.
9:01:18 A.M. The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.
9:01:22 A.M. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mrs. Walorski to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
9:01:43 A.M. ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with one minute speeches, which by direction of the Chair would be limited to 5 per side of the aisle.
9:19:07 A.M. H.R. 2217 Considered as unfinished business. H.R. 2217 — "Making appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2014, and for other purposes."
9:19:18 A.M. H.R. 2217 The House resolved into Committee of the Whole House on the state of the Union for further consideration.
9:20:37 A.M. H.R. 2217 Mr. Carter moved that the Committee rise.

Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received a message from the Secretary of the Senate on June 6, 2013 at 9:32 a.m. stating that that body had agreed to S. Res. 161.

The instructions contained in the motion seek to require the bill to be reported back forthwith with an amendment to increase funds for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Salaries and Expenses by $7,500,000 and the National Predisaster Mitigation Fund by $2,500,000.
