10:00:10 A.M. The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
10:00:14 A.M. The Speaker designated the Honorable Henry Cuellar to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.
10:00:39 A.M. MORNING-HOUR DEBATE - The House proceeded with Morning-Hour Debate. At the conclusion of Morning-Hour, the House will recess until 12:00 p.m. for the start of legislative business.
10:23:48 A.M. The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is scheduled for 12:00 P.M. today.
12:00:55 P.M. The House convened, returning from a recess continuing the legislative day of January 14.
12:01:55 P.M. Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Patrick J. Conroy.
12:04:27 P.M. The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.
12:04:29 P.M. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Budd to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
12:04:52 P.M. ADJUSTED WHOLE NUMBER OF THE HOUSE - Under clause 5(d) of rule 20, the Chair announced to the House that, in light of the resignation of the gentleman from California, Mr. Hunter, the whole number of the House is 430.
12:05:30 P.M. ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with one minute speeches which by direction of the Chair, would be limited to 15 per side of the aisle.
12:18:31 P.M. The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on January 14, 2020, at 11:16 a.m.: that the Senate passed H.R. 434 and the Senate agreed to S. Res. 468.

Res. 790 — "Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 1230) to amend the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 and other laws to clarify appropriate standards for Federal employment discrimination and retaliation claims, and for other purposes; providing for consideration of the joint resolution (H.J. Res. 76) providing for congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to "Borrower Defense Institutional Accountability"; and providing for proceedings during the period from January 17, 2020, through January 24, 2020."

4:13:05 P.M. On motion to adjourn Agreed to by voice vote.
