9:00:03 A.M. The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
9:00:07 A.M. Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Patrick J. Conroy.
9:01:49 A.M. SPEAKER'S APPROVAL OF THE JOURNAL - The Chair announced that she had examined the Journal of the last day's proceedings and had approved it. Mr. Evans demanded that the question be put on agreeing to the Speaker's approval of the Journal and by voice vote, the Chair announced that the ayes had prevailed. Mr. Evans demanded the yeas and nays and the Chair postponed further proceedings on the question of the Speaker's approval of the Journal until later in the legislative day.
9:02:22 A.M. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mrs. McBath to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
9:02:45 A.M. ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with one minute speeches which by direction of the Chair, would be limited to 5 per side of the aisle.
9:17:07 A.M. H.R. 5 Considered under the provisions of rule H. Res. 377. H.R. 5 — "To prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and for other purposes."
9:17:12 A.M. H.R. 5 Rule provides for consideration of H.R. 5, H.R. 312 and H.R. 987. The resolution provides for 90 minutes of debate on H.R. 5, under a closed rule. Section 2 of the resolution provides for 60 minutes of debate on H.R. 312, under a closed rule and section 3 provides 90 minutes of debate on H.R. 987, under a structured rule.

The instructions contained in the motion seek to require the bill to be reported back to the House with an amendment to add at the end of the bill a new section that nothing in this Act or any amendment made by this Act may be construed to diminish any protections under title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.

12:18:06 P.M. COLLOQUY ON HOUSE SCHEDULE - The Chair recognized Mr. Scalise for the purpose of engaging in a colloquy with Mr. Hoyer on the expectations regarding the legislative schedule for the House during the upcoming week.

1:45:43 P.M. The House Democracy Partnership - Pursuant to section 104(a) of H. Res. 6, 116th Congress, and the order of the House of January 3, 2019, the Chair removed the gentlewoman from the Virgin Islands, Ms. Plaskett, from the House Democracy Partnership, and appointed the gentlewoman from California, Mrs. Davis, to fill the vacancy.
1:46:00 P.M. Mr. Gohmert moved that the House do now adjourn.
1:46:12 P.M. On motion to adjourn Agreed to by voice vote.
1:46:13 P.M. The House adjourned pursuant to a previous special order. The next meeting is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on May 20, 2019.
