9:00:09 A.M. Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Patrick J. Conroy.
9:01:07 A.M. The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.
9:01:09 A.M. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Ms. Foxx to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
9:01:29 A.M. ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with one minute speeches which by direction of the Chair, would be limited to 5 per side of the aisle.
9:17:53 A.M. The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is subject to the call of the Chair.
12:00:09 P.M. The House convened, returning from a recess continuing the legislative day of January 20.
12:00:15 P.M. ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with further one minute speeches.
12:08:36 P.M. Mr. Guthrie moved a Call of the House pursuant to clause 7 of rule 20.
12:08:47 P.M. Mr. Crowley objected to the motion and Mr. Hoyer demanded the yeas and nays.
12:31:00 P.M. On Ordering a Call of the House Agreed to by the Yeas and Nays: 224 - 150, 10 Present (Roll no. 38).
12:46:49 P.M. Call of the House Quorum responded: 377 present (Roll no. 39).
12:46:53 P.M. The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is subject to the call of the Chair.
4:01:27 P.M. The House convened, returning from a recess continuing the legislative day of January 20.
4:01:30 P.M. Mr. Sessions filed a report from the Committee on Rules on H. Res. 708.
4:02:10 P.M. H. Res. 708 Considered as privileged matter. H. Res. 708 — "Waiving a requirement of clause 6(a) of rule XIII with respect to consideration of certain resolutions reported from the Committee on Rules, and providing for consideration of motions to suspend the rules."
4:03:20 P.M. H. Res. 708 DEBATE - The House proceeded with one hour of debate on H. Res. 708.
4:07:46 P.M. H. Res. 708 POINT OF ORDER - During the course of debate on H. Res. 708, exception was taken to certain words used and a demand was made to have words taken down. Subsequently, unanimous consent was granted to withdraw the words in question and debate continued under regular order.
4:47:50 P.M. H. Res. 708 POINT OF ORDER - During the course of debate, exception was taken to the use of an exhibit used. The Chair viewed the exhibit and found that the exhibit did not constitute a breach of decorum.
4:47:58 P.M. H. Res. 708 Mr. Perlmutter appealed the ruling of the chair. The question was then put on sustaining the ruling of the chair.
