2:00:01 P.M. The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
2:00:30 P.M. The Speaker designated the Honorable Luke Messer to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.
2:00:31 P.M. Today's prayer was offered by Reverend Gene Hemrick, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Washington DC.
2:02:05 P.M. The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.
2:02:06 P.M. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair led the House in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
2:02:07 P.M. The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on January 15, 2016 at 11:18 a.m.: That the Senate agreed to H. Con. Res. 107.
2:02:09 P.M. The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to the permission granted in Clause 2(h) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she had received the following message from the Secretary of the Senate on January 21, 2016 at 10:50 a.m.: That the Senate passed S. 607, S. 2422 and agreed to S. Con. Res. 28 and S. Con. Res. 29.
2:03:12 P.M. H.R. 3762 Notwithstanding the order of the House on January 8, 2016, the Chair announced that further consideration of the veto message on H.R. 3762 shall be postponed until Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Agreed to without objection.
2:03:13 P.M. Pursuant to the order of the House on January 25, 2016, and clause 8 of rule XX, the Chair postponed until Tuesday, February 2, 2016, further proceedings on the question of passage of H.R. 3662.
2:05:00 P.M. The House received a communication from Abigail Curran Horrell, Chief of Staff, the Honorable Ann Kuster. Pursuant to Rule VIII of the Rules of the House of Representatives, Ms. Horrell notified the House that she had received two subpoenas, issued by the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, in connection with a particular civil case. One of those subpoenas purports to require that she produce certain official documents, and the other purports to require that she produce certain official documents and appear to testify at a deposition on official matters. After consulting with the Office of General Counsel, she will make the determinations required by Rule VIII.
2:05:01 P.M. That when the House adjourns on Monday, January 25, 2016, it adjourn to meet at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016.
2:06:01 P.M. The Speaker announced that the House do now adjourn pursuant to a previous special order. The next meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on January 28, 2016.
