2:00:08 P.M. The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
2:00:17 P.M. The Speaker designated the Honorable Adrian Smith to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.
2:00:41 P.M. Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Patrick J. Conroy.
2:02:59 P.M. The House received a message from the Clerk. Pursuant to Clause 2(g) of Rule II of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives, the Clerk notified the House that she designated Mr. Robert Reeves, Deputy Clerk, to sign any and all papers and do all other acts for her under the name of the Clerk of the House which they would be authorized to do by virtue of this designation, except such as are provided by statute, in case of her temporary absence or disability and specified that such designation shall remain in effect for the 114th Congress or until modified by her.
2:03:35 P.M. The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 P.M. today.
6:30:19 P.M. The House convened, returning from a recess continuing the legislative day of January 5.
6:57:55 P.M. Call of the House Quorum responded: 397 present (Roll no. 1).
6:58:02 P.M. The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.
6:58:20 P.M. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Poe of TX to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
